Routes/Timings

The below Dubai Ferry routes/timings information is accurate to the best of our knowledge. If in any doubt, please contact the RTA on 800 9090 for clarification on any of the trips shown.

Routes are occasionally changed and we will endeavour to keep these up to date.

Ferry Terminals

The Dubai Ferry currently runs from six ferry terminals: Dubai Marina, Bluewater Marine Transport Station, Al Ghubaiba, Dubai Canal Station, Sharjah Aquarium and Souk al Marfa.

The first two stations to operate were at Al Ghubaiba and Dubai Marina, with a terminal at Al Mamzar introduced in October 2014 – However, Al Mamzar no longer runs services due to lack of demand. The service also used to run along Dubai Water Canal to Al Jadaf but this has changed to a Water Taxi service.

The ferry service between Dubai and Sharjah was suspended after the 2020 pandemic but has now resumed and you can find full details of that service here.

Ferry services run 7 days a week.

The Al Ghubaiba terminal is a minutes walk from the Al Ghubaiba Metro station, near the creek abra stations.

The Marina terminal is a short walk (about 500 yards to the left) from outside the Marina Mall.

The Bluewater Marine Transport Station is on the island that holds the AIN Dubai ferris wheel, just off the marina.

Souk al Marfa is on Deira Islands.

There are circular tourist type trips that run for approximately 1 hour from each terminal and there are trips that run from one terminal to the other (which take around 1h 55m minutes for the trips between the Marina and Al Ghubaiba).

As there are sometimes changes to the schedule it is worth contacting the RTA in advance to check on sailing times.

Scheduled circular services (services that start and leave from the same station) will only run with at least 12 passengers. You can also privately hire the boats for your own trip at any available time between 9am and 9pm. Evening trips are busier so you may need to get to the terminal well in advance of the sailing (30 minutes or more).

Both circular routes run along the shore from the terminus with views of the coastline and the many local attractions, they run for one hour and then return from the place they started from. In this way they are really just excursions rather than a means to actually get anywhere within Dubai.

Dubai Marina

This is the tourist route covered by the Dubai Marina ferry which runs at 11.30am:

Dubai Marina Ferry Route
Dubai Marina Ferry Route

There is also a route running from Dubai Marina and out to the Burj al Arab for 60-90 minutes at 4.30pm. Trips may change – see table above for current trips available.

In addition you can travel at 1pm and 6pm from Dubai Marina to Al Ghubaiba. This stops at Dubai Canal Station and BlueWaters en route.

Al Ghubaiba

The route covered by the Al Ghubaiba ferry for the circular trip at 4.30pm is shown below. However, note that the route may be subject to change. There is a 3pm circular trip that previously ran within Dubai Creek – check with the RTA for the current route.

In addition there is a ferry running from Al Ghubaiba to Dubai Marina Ferry terminal at  1pm and 6pm. This stops at Dubai Canal Station and BlueWaters en route.

Souk al Marfa

In March 2022 a new ferry route was launched to Souk al Marfa on Dubai Islands. It ran from 6pm to 10pm on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. However, this trip no longer runs and marine access to Souk al Marfa is now just by abra.

Ticket Prices

Ticket prices are shown here.

The Dubai Ferry can be hired for private trips with no seats so that guests can mingle. It costs 2800 dirhams per hour (prices may change).

  1. Dear Admin,
    Please, clarify 2 issues.

    1. we want to get a trip via Dubai Canal, where boat is going throughout the waterfall. but required:
    a) round trip
    b) timing – Friday evening.
so, how does this trip called / from where to where ? **I am not so familiar in station’ names.

    2. There will be 4 adults and 2 teens (2 and 15 years old) total. are any discount available for our group?

Thank you for your reply in advance.
    B.Rgds,
    IRINA

    1. Hi Irina, sorry for the delay in replying. The waterfall is close to Sheikh Zayed Road station and the bridge is close to that so you can get a trip from there and head towards Al Jadaf. For a round trip you will either have to get the round trip that runs on the hour from SZR station or just get a return to a station towards Al Jadaf (check out the timings above). The same trips run every day. Teens pay full price so you will not be able to get any discount as far as I am aware.

  2. Hi !
I am close to Al Wajeha Al Maryah station.
But it s not clear for me, where I can go from here and the times .
    Could you please clarify ?
    Thanks !

    1. Hi, the ferries go up and down the canal from there (see timings above) they go at 12.50pm and 6.20pm if you are going towards DWC station and 3pm and 8.30pm if you are going towards Al Jadaf.

  3. Hi, is the dubai water canal circular trip available at 7:00pm Friday? How much the ticket and where will be the departure? (First time in Dubai). Thank you.

    1. Hi, I’m not sure which trip you are talking about (and it is probably too late!) but there is a circular trip running from the Sheikh Zayed Road Station on the canal.

  4. Hi, Please advise, is the Ferry timetable the same for both New Years Day (or other public holidays) and regular calendar days?

  5. Hey, just wanted to know that if I take the ferry from ghubaiba at morning 11 to Marina, by what time am I gonna reach Marina..?And secondly it has a stop at water canal, if I want I can just get down and leave from the ferry at water canal right?

    1. Hi Sundus, the ferry takes around 1hr 40 mins between Al Ghubaiba and the Marina. Yes you can just buy a ticket to the DWC station and get off there.

  6. Hi
Could you mind Tell me if water taxi service is running in this period. It is Said that it was blocked a couple of months ago.
May i Rent a Abra to pass throught the canal from Duba water canal to Al Jadaf
    Thank you
    Larry

    1. Hi Larr, the water taxi service is not running at the moment due to improvements being made. You can get the ferry from Dubai Water Canal to Al Jadaf or contact the RTA for other methods of transport if the timings do not suite you.

  7. Dear Admin,
What stations are included in 1hr Circular trip from Sheikh Zayed Road Station?

    Thank you in advance,

    Elena

      1. Hello Admin, what is the route then? What side of the Dubai Water Canal we can see if we choose the Circular trip from SZR station?
        Thanks
        Elena

  8. Hi nice Website!!!
    Just two questions.
1-water taxi is on operation now??It is Said they are stopped.
2-if i get on 5 P.M. Ferry from DM to Atlantis, may i be able to get on the 6.30 P.M. Ferry from DM to Al Ghubaibe.Have i enought time to change the ferry??
    Thank you very much indeed
    Gianluigi

    1. Hi Gianluigi and thanks. In answer to your questions 1. It seems that the water taxi is not operating at the moment due to improvements. 2. You will need to check with the ticket office as the exact timings also may depend on the weather.

  9. Hi Admin,
May i ask about how different from
3pm Circular Tourist trips to Burj al Arab and back
5pm Sightseeing circular trip to Atlantis and back
If I would love to see the view from both Atlantis, the Palm and Burj al Arub. Which programme is matching to my need?
Can i use Nol silver to pay a trip?
    Best,
    Kewalee C.

    1. Hi, see the map under the heading ‘Dubai Marina’ to see where the 2 trips go. If you do the Burj al Arab trip then you can see Atlantis from afar and vice versa. No you can’t use the Nol card to pay for the trip.

    1. It really depends on what area of the canal you would like to see as the trip along the canal is quite long and goes from one end to the other, so just chose your start point and destination and check out the timings.

  10. I want to know if the circular trip in the water canal departs only from Sheikh Zayed station? Can’t we take it from Al jaddaf station as it will be the nearest station to our hotel .
Are the ferry timings on the website updated?

    1. Hi Taghreed, the normal trips run from Al Jadaf and stop at the stations along the canal so you can still take that ferry. The round trips run from SZR station I believe when there are enough people. Ferry timings are accurate as far as we are aware but you can check direct with the RTA on 800 9090 to confirm.

  11. The “All Routes Map” shows two round trip routes from the Dubai Marina. The “Dubai Marina” route, also referred to as the “tourist” route says it runs at 5:00 PM. However, the route shown in the map doesn’t match the same route in the “All Routes Map”.

In addition, in the section entitled “Dubai Marina”, it says there is also a route running from Dubai Marina and out to the Burj al Arab for 60 – 90 minutes at 3pm (no map available, but is shown on the “All Routes Map”), and also references the Dubai Marina to Al Ghubaiba routes (a map from the “Route for Marina/Al Ghubaiba” section shows this route). This is all very confusing. I think the structure of your Routes page is very confusing, and is why you have so many negative comments.

I am able to eventually determine the information I need, but wish it was more clearly organized.

    1. Hi Tom, sorry you are having difficulty with the maps. The all routes map shows all the routes and can be enlarged simply by clicking on it. The map for the Dubai Marina route at 5pm shows it going in one end of the marina and out the other instead of in and out the same end. I believe this was correct at some point but perhaps this should now be deleted.
I’m not sure I understand your confusion on the other routes – each route is specified in the timings at the top of the page and the maps are for extra information.
The majority of comments here are requesting confirmation of route details for which we have tried to provide comprehensive information, simplified into boxes. This site is not run by the RTA but on a voluntary basis to supplement the sometimes out of date or hard to find information about the Ferry.

      1. It can’t be enlarged when you click on it. Certainly not on mobile view anyway. This has been mentioned numerous times. It’s the most utterly unfriendly and confusing routes page imaginable. I live here and kind of know the routes but even I’m confused. Can only imagine a poor tourist who hasn’t a clue. Really rather than continuously question what the issue is have a website designer look at the page and take on board people’s feedback.

        1. Hi Kate, yes the map can be enlarged when you click on it – those are the settings on the image and that is what happens on every device I have tested on it so I am sorry if it doesn’t work on your particular device. On a mobile just touch the image, it opens in a new window and use both fingers to enlarge (it is not a great image but it is the best currently available on here). The routes are all listed in tables. I’m not sure what you find so confusing with this but for ease of use I have split the Marina and Al Ghubaiba trips into different tables. Hopefully that helps. There are so far over 1,000 comments on this site and I can count in single figures the number of people who have complained about the map and this page. This site is run on a voluntary basis with no funding to supply extra information that is not easily available elsewhere. When we get feedback we do act on it.

  12. Hello,

I am trying to plan a journey with my kids from Dubai Mall to the inside to the canal. It is not easy because it refers to the station names, but i cant know the names as tge map is not enlarging. The font are blurred. I am keep going back to Google maps last half an hour.
Now i figured out that i am looking for a circular trip from Dubai Marina Mall to Al Jadaf station. So is a there Ferry boat change at Dubai Canal station? Are the timings back to back? Is it easy to connect with two kids( 4 and 1 year old)? There are separate charges. Can i buy these connected trips from the marina mall station?
It is not mentioned also if baby strollers are allowed or not?

Please help me, as i am about to give up this journey but i dont want to disappoint my son. He is so excited to ride a boat.

    Thank you.

    1. Hi you can get the 1pm ferry from the Marina and change at Dubai Water Canal station to get the 2.05pm service to Al Jadaf (15 minute changeover time) and then it gets in to Al Jadaf at 3.50pm so that is a very long trip. Yes you can take strollers. You will probably need to get a ticket to DWC from the Marina and then the next ticket to Al Jadaf at DWC. There is a trip that you can take back from Al Jadaf but you would get back to the marina at 8pm so that would be a long day!

  13. Dear admin
    Good day
I worked as a ferry captain in jordan for several years ,how can i find job in rta dubai ferry fleet ?
    Thanks

  14. Trying to find out where the sheikh Zayed road station is to get on the water taxi to do a circular tour. What is the nearest landmark to find this starting point.

    1. Hi Joe, all routes that we know of are shown on the routes page and we will update as soon as we hear of any changes, so yes, that ferry will still run as far as we know, barring last minute changes by the RTA.
